Family

No matter what we do in life, whether it is striving to own big cars, or houses. Have a great job and make lots of money. I hope everyone remembers one thing, it all means nothing without your family! I know some people had tough lives when they were growing up, and they don’t particularly like their biological family but…. family can be what you make it.

I have my biological family which I am very close with and I have my very close friends and their family’s which I am very close with also. So, if you are not close with your biological family then make your friends your family and keep them close. I am very fortunate to have several families I can call my own.

I say this now, because I realize how suddenly things can change and it scared me. I guess I always assumed my parent would live forever, but, that might not be true. My father was rushed to the hospital the other day for chest pains, he is 78 years old and always been extremely healthy. They gave him a clean bill of health and told him he had acid reflux.

Now, I have acid reflux and I know all to well, it can absolutely feel like you are having a heart attack, thought I was having one myself once. So, seemed like a safe call on the hospitals part to tell him he had acid reflux. But, here is the part that nawed at my brain, when the paramedics came to pick up my dad, they gave him nitro for a heart attack. The pains subsided and off they went to the hospital.

Anyone else following me here? Nitro only works on the heart and would have nothing to do with gastric acids. So, why did the nitro stop the pains? Luckily his regular doctor asked that same question and set up a visit with a cardiologist for my dad. He is still having some chest pains and takes the nitro to make them stop. We all think, maybe somebody missed something some where.

This leads me to why we need to take care of our families, stay in touch, tell them you love them, they will not be here forever no matter how much we want them to be. I am now trying to figure out when and how to make a very long trip from WA state to Arkansas, nowhereville. I will have to take a bus, a cab, a plane, then rent a car and 12 to 14 hours later should make it to my folks house.

I just need to make sure my dad knows how much I love him, and I am going to tell him in person.

Selecting Affiliate Marketing Opportunities

Continuing from last week, as I had promised, sorry but family matters came first. So here is more on affiliate marketing, there is so much to know, where do you begin?

First off, there are a wide variety of affiliate marketing opportunities available. Many different companies and websites offer affiliate marketing opportunities. In most cases the blog owner simply needs to submit the website address of his blog along with some other basic information for approval. In most cases the company is not likely to reject the application unless the content of the website is deemed to be objectionable or otherwise in conflict of interest with the company’s goals.

However, although getting approved to display affiliate links on your website is a rather simple process, this does not mean blog owners should select these affiliate marketing opportunities without discretion. It is a far better idea to carefully select affiliate marketing opportunities with companies who are of interest to the target audience of the blog. Otherwise, why would your target market ever click on your affiliate links?

A well focused blog that is reaching a specific target audience should seek to display marketing links directing website traffic to companies which complement the blog without acting as direct competition to the blog. This helps to ensure the blog visitors will not only be interested in the affiliate marketing links and therefore more likely to click on the links but will also help to ensure the blog visitors do not find the affiliate marketing links to be bothersome.

Be sure once you do decided on an affiliate program and you sign up with them, that you write down all information about your affiliate program and your link ID. Keep these all in one place and periodically check on your affiliate programs to make sure everything is in order and keep track of money owed to you.

Next, I will talk about how to use these affiliate marketing programs to your advantage.

Affiliate Marketing and Blogging

Affiliate marketing is one way in which bloggers utilize their blog to generate revenue. The amount of revenue generated by a blog featuring affiliate marketing links may vary significantly depending on the amount of traffic the blog receives as well as the compensation offered for the affiliate marketing.

What affiliate marketing essentially entails is creating a link on the blog to another company’s website. The other company then compensates the blog owner according to a previously agreed upon contract. This compensation may be awarded in a number of different ways. The blog owner may be compensated each time the advertisement is served, each time a unique website visitor clicks through the advertisement or each time a blog visitor performs a desired action such as making a purchase or registering with the website.

Over the next couple of days I will be talking more about differen aspects of affiliate marketing which bloggers should understand including selecting opportunities carefully, maximizing the income potential for these opportunities and understanding the requirements associated with these affiliate marketing opportunities.

There is a lot to learn about affiliate marketing, so, I will take a couple of days to try and explain the ins and outs of affilate marketing and how you could possibly make a nice living by being an affiliate marketer.

How Article Marketing Can Explode Your Online Business

You can promote your website and product for FREE and can literally explode your business, doubling your business in no time at all.

How can you do this? Easy, write articles. This is still one of the easiest ways to promote your website in order to generate traffic and increase your earnings.

How does this work?

It really is so simple, you write articles relating to your website or to a niche that you are passionate about and submit them to “free content” directory sites. Very easy to do, takes little time and can increase your website traffic, sales and of course, your income.

How does article writing explode your business income?

Each article you submit to an article directory contains a resource box, which is just a link to your own website. Readers, after reading your articles, may click on your link and visit your site. Your job is to get them to sign up for a newsletter or free giveaway.

Webmasters may wish to publish articles you have written on their site. If they do, your article will include a link back to your site. And anyone who reads the article on that site can still click on the link to visit your site.

As the list of your published articles grows larger, and more and more of them are appearing on different websites, the total number of links to your site increases also. Major search engines are placing a lot of significance on incoming links to websites so they can determine the importance of a certain site.

The more incoming links the website has, the more importance search engines attaches to it. This will then increase your website’s placement in the search results.

If you site is into promoting a product or service, the links that your articles have achieved will mean more potential customers for you. Even if visitors only browse through, you never know if they might be in need of what you are offering in the future.

See how easy that is?

Search engines do not just index the websites, they also index published articles. They also index any article that is written about your own website’s topic. So once someone searches for that same topic, the list of results will have your site or may even show the articles that you have written.

And to think, no effort on your part was used to bring them to your site. Just your published articles and the search engines.

It is no wonder why many webmasters are suddenly reviving their old writing styles and taking time to write more articles about their site than doing other means of promotion.

Getting their site known is easier if they have articles increasing their links and traffic and making it accessible for visitors searching the Internet. Since many people are now taking their buying needs online, having your site on the search engines through your articles is one way of letting them know about you and your business.

The good thing with articles is that you can write about things that people would want to know about. This can be achieved in the lightest mood but professional manner, with a little not-so-obvious sales pitch added.

If you think about it, only a few minutes of your time is spent on writing one article and submitting to free directory site. In the shortest span of time also, those are distributed to more sites than you can think of. Even before you know what is happening, you are getting more visitors than you previously had.

If you think you are wasting your time writing these articles, fast forward to the time when you will see them printed and wide-spread on the Internet. Not to mention the sudden attention and interest that people are giving your website and your products or services.

Try writing some articles and you will be amazed at the sudden surge in site traffic, link popularity and interest. Before you know it, you will be doubling and even tripling your earnings.

Nothing like getting benefits for something you got for free!

Daily Showers and Blogging

Is it possible for the two to coexist in the same household? Especially if you do the blogging for a living.

I read an interesting post today, I don’t even know where I was, but basically it was work at home mom who was seriously worried about the fact that she had gotten in-front of the computer to work and had forgotten to take a shower and get dressed that day.

My first thought was, “She must be new to this internet business thing”. Then, I thought, “boy is her world going to change!”

She has a lot to learn. I have spent days in front of my computer, forgetting to eat, shower, dress, I have to wonder if I peed even. Goodness, she built a whole blog spot out of her concern for not showering! Honey, it is just a first of many times I am sure. If it bothers you, my advice is get out of this business, you ain’t going to make it.

Oh go on, some of you are like… oh that is so gross! Please, if you are truly into an interenet business and have a dozen things going on the web and you get into a zone, there is no getting out of it. Your fingers are typing, your brain is going, there is no escape! It is what writers do, we write! Sometimes into the wee hours of the next morning, sometimes not even stopping then. When the spirit moves you, there is no fighting it.

All I have to say to that poor woman is, take two showers tomorrow and call me in the morning. I will tell you all the dirty little secrets about we internet business people and what we really do when no one is looking!

Home Party Plan Games

Everybody loves games, so loosen everybody up by starting each party with a simple party game. And of course, promise the winner something fabulous!

This one is an oldie but goodie, played at every baby shower I have been too, but, it works for our home parties too!

It is called the Clothespin Game:

As each guest arrives, hand her a clothespin(s). Tell her to attach it to herself in an obvious spot, and each time someone else in the party “catches” another guest crossing or uncrossing their legs through out the evening, they can “steal” that guest’s clothespin(s). This definitely keeps the party from getting too “formal”. Whoever has collected the most clothespins at the end of your presentation gets a fabulous gift!

This is a fun game that can be played all through the night so, it really keeps the guest loosened up.

4 Tips To A Happy Hostess

The true secret to home party success, is a happy hostess. A happy hostess is motivated to get people to her party and can be a big help in getting the people at her party to buy your products. It really doesn't matter if you are holding the party in your hostesses home or having an online party. A happy hostess means the difference between great sales or mediocre sales. Here are some tips for keeping your hostess happy and excited about her party.

Get Her Excited About Her Own Party

The first thing you should do is get your hostess excited about all the free and discounted products that she can receive by having a fantastic party. Help her become enthusiastic by showing her all the great items that she will get. She will be thrilled to do what she can to have a great party.

Train Your Hostess To Hold A Successful Party

Make sure she knows all the ways to ensure her guests attend her party. (Reminding them before the event, personally touching base with them, advertising, etc.) A printout or checklist can really help you here. Guarentee contact with everybody that is supposed to come to the party. Get your hostess to give you names and email addresses of all those who are supposed to come to the party and you personally contact them and let them know how excited you are to meet them. Tell them how your hostess is also very excited that they are coming. Now,they know two people are counting on them being there.

Add an Extra Incentive

Offer your hostess an extra incentive. Is there a particular piece of jewelry that she is just in love with? Perhaps a set of candles or maybe a bath and body set has caught her eye? Set a goal for her to have a certain amount of guests invited to the online party by a set date. Or you could challenge her to have a set dollar amount of sales made before her party. Offer the hostess the item that she wants if, and when, she meets your challenge.

Games and Fun

Plan some super simple games and giveaways during your hostess’s party. People love to have a chance to win something for free and if they need to make a purchase to enter a drawing all the better for your hostess. Everyone will have fun playing the games that you have set up and your hostess will have a blast racking up sales to put toward getting free items.

The Internet is a fantastic resource for finding more ideas that will make for a wonderfully fun party for your hostess and will create a profitable party for yourself. Build A Website Search Engines Love!

The most successful online businesses all have one thing in common. They all knew how to make search engine optimization work for them.

Search engine optimization is the art and science of making websites attractive to the internet's search engines. The first step in successfully achieving stellar search engine optimization is to lure search engine's web crawlers to your website. Web crawlers are computer programs that the search engines use gather data and index information from the websites. The information the web crawlers gather is used to determine the ranking of a webpage.

One of the fastest ways to hamper a web crawler is to construct a website that has frames. Most search engines have crawlers that can't penetrate the frames, if they can't get into a webpage to read it then that webpage remains unindexed and unranked. Two search engines, Google and Inktome, have web crawlers that are capable of penetrating frames. Before submitting your website to a search engine do some research and find out if they have a crawler that is incapable of penetrating any frames.

If you have written frames into your URL it will probably be worth your effort to go back and rewrite your URL's. Once you have rewritten your URLs you might be surprised to find that the new addresses are easier on humans as well as web crawlers, the frameless URLs are easier to type in documents as links and references.

Once you have rewritten your URL's it is time to start submitting your website to search engines. Some webmasters like to use an automated search engine submission service. If you decide to go with the submission service you should be aware that there will be a fee involved, the minimum fee is typically fifty-nine US dollars. This price should keep a few URLs on the search engines for a year. Other webmasters like to avoid big fees by submitting their website to individual search engine on their own.

Once your webpage is submitted to a search engine you need to sit down and design a crawler page. A crawler page is a webpage that contains nothing else expect links to every single page of your website, Use the title of each page as the as the link text. This will also give you some extra keywords that will help improve the ranking the crawlers assign to your website. Think of the crawler page as a site map to the rest of your website.

Typically, the crawler page won't appear in the search results. This happens because the page doesn't have enough text for the crawlers to give that individual page a high ranking, after all its nothing more then a portal to the rest of your site and your human users won't need to use it. Don't panic if it crawlers don't instantly appear to index your website. There are a lot of websites available on the internet that need to be crawled, indexed, and then ranked. It can sometimes take up to three months for a web crawler to get to yours.

Basics of Search Engine Optimization

Fifteen years ago if we need information we had to go to library. Writing reports, and preparing for test required hours of scanning shelves filled with books, blowing large chunks of change in the copy matching, checking out a mountains of books, and squinting at microfilm. The internet has chanced all of that. Now when we need to learn something all we have to do is boot up a computer and connect to the internet.

Most people have an extensive favorites list on their computers, a simple click of the mouse and they are at their favorite website. This is a handy feature if you do a lot of online shopping at a particular store or spend a lot of time at a specific chatroom. When they need to use the internet to gather information most people consult an online search engine.

A search engine is an information retrieval system designed to help locate information. Most people are familiar with Google, Yahoo, and Ask.com. Search engines work when a user types a keyword into the little box. Once the user types in the word the search engine scans all its files. It then provides the user with a page that is full of options, generally twenty. The user scans the list of options and then opens the one that sounds like it best suits their needs. Search engines use something called search engine optimization to determine the ranking of each web address.

Search engine optimization is the art and science of making web pages attractive to the search engines. The more a website appeals to the search engine the higher it will be ranked.

Crawler based search engines determine the relevancy of a website by following a set of guidelines called algorithms. One of the first things a crawler based search engine looks for is keywords. The more frequently a website uses a certain keyword the higher the website will rank. Search engines believe that more frequently a word appears the more relevant the website.

The location of the key words is as important as the frequency.

The first place a search engine looks for keywords is in the title. Web designers should include a keyword in their HTML title tag. Web designers should also make sure that keywords are included near the top of the page. Search engines operate under the assumption that the web designers will want to make any important information obvious right away.

Spamdexing is a term used to describe a webpage that uses a certain word hundreds of times in an attempt to propel their webpage to the top of search engines rankings. Most search engines use a variety of methods, including customer complaints, to penalize websites that use spamming methods. Very few internet search engines rely solely on keywords to determine website ranking. Many search engines also use something called "off the page" ranking criteria. Off the page ranking criteria are ranking criteria's that webmasters cannot easily influence. Two methods of off the page search engine optimization are link analysis and click through measurement.
